"Swing dance" is most commonly known as a group of dances that developed with the swing style of jazz music in the 1920s-1950s. The best known of these Swing dances is the Lindy Hop, Named after Lindberghs famous flight to Paris. 

The Glory of Swing was On March 26th 1926 the NYs Savoy Ballroom opened it's Doors. The Savoy was a NY block long and became known as the Home of the HAPPY FEET, because it attacted and created so many great dancers. The Savoy held the battle of the great swing bands of the era and was where Ella Fitzgerald won here first following.

 

The Lindy, this partner dance that originated in Harlem in 1927 is still danced today. Lindy was a fusion of many dances that preceded it or were popular during its development but is mainly based on jazz, tap, Foxtrot breakaways and Charleston.[1]
